Basic Gun Defense Seminar 04.06.13

Krav Maga Program
There will be a basic gun defense seminar on Saturday, April 6, from 1:00 to 3:30pm. This course will cover defenses and disarms for basic hand gun threats. The seminar is open to all adult students and the general public. The cost is $65 and space is limited to 20 participants.

***The 6:00pm Friday All Levels class and the 8:30am Saturday Scenarios class before the seminar will cover all basic combatives required for the gun defenses. It is highly recommended you attend one of these classes if you are participating in the seminar. This will allow us to devote the entire seminar to the defenses!***

Poll: Basic Gun Defense Seminar Time

We are tentatively scheduling a Basic Gun Defense Seminar for Saturday, April 6, and we’d like your input on the time.

Preface:
The combatives involved in gun defenses are taught and trained in the 8:30AM Krav Maga class before the seminar. It is not required that you attend this class, but it allows us to devote the entire 3 hours of the seminar to the defenses without the preliminary striking and movement drills.

Here are the two options:

  • 10:00AM – 1:00PM. This time would make attending the 8:30AM class more convenient, but the seminar would start downstairs in Training Room 2 and move to the bigger upstairs room once Youth Kenpo classes are finished for the day.
  • 1:00PM – 4:00PM. This time would make it less convenient to attend the 8:30AM class, but the entire seminar would be in Training Room 1.

VOTING IS OVER.

Once we get a consensus, the seminar sign-up form will be posted on the site.

The Black Belt Spectacular will be held at Watertown Middle School (map below) on Friday, March 8.

Doors open at 7pm
Ceremony begins at 7:15pm
This is a free, public event.

REMINDER: There will be no Youth Kenpo classes Saturday, 3/9!

Internet Safety & Bullying Presentation 02.23.13

This Saturday, 2/23, the Watertown Police Department will be at the Academy to give a presentation on Internet Safety and Bullying. This presentation will be geared toward parents, but it is open to everyone. It will be about 20 minutes long and held during classes at 10:00AM, 10:30AM, and 11:00AM.

Krava Maga Level 1 Test Reminders!

If you are planning to take the Krav Maga Level 1 Test on Friday, March 1, be sure to sign up here!

The 6:30pm Fundamentals classes on Wednesday 2/20 and 2/27 will be devoted to review for the test (if we have testees in attendance). Be sure to review the Level 1 curriculum and bring questions!

Krav Maga Level 1 Test – Friday 03.01.13

KMW_007 We will be conducting a Level 1 test on Friday, March 1, 6pm. Depending on the number of students, the test typically takes 2-3 hours with minimal breaks. If you have trained all of the Level 1 curriculum and would like to test, please sign up using the form below.

All students are welcome to watch the test or participate alongside the students testing. Even if you’re not being graded, the test is an excellent review of the curriculum as well as an intense physical and mental challenge.

We will have prep classes as we near the test. Review the Level 1 Curriculum and bring any questions to class so that we can help you best prepare. You can also post any questions to the comments below.

11.17.12 Fight Seminar Reminder

The Fight Seminar is this Saturday, 11/17, at 10am.

Be sure to bring ALL of your fight gear:

  • Headgear
  • Mouthguard (make sure it’s properly formed!)
  • 16-oz gloves
  • Groin protection
  • Shin guards

It’s going to be a fairly active seminar, so sustenance and a change of clothes are recommended!
