MacDonald Academy of Martial Arts
Kenpo Karate, Krav Maga, and Fitness for the Boston / Watertown area
On Saturday, December 10th, our Academy will be hosting our annual inner school tournament for all of our classes. The purpose of providing this event is to allow all of our students to have an opportunity to experience the positive benefits of competing in a martial arts tournament. We also hope to use this event as an opportunity to address important class lessons such as confidence, public speaking and respect in the classes leading up to the event.
Our Little Dragons Beginner (white, dragon & tiger belts) competition will begin at 9am on Saturday, December 10th. Each participant will demonstrate “ring etiquette”, perform their class form in front of black belt judges and receive a “competitor’s trophy” as a reward for all their hard work. Unlike the older and more advanced classes, this event will not be scored and all participants will be acknowledged as winners.
Our Little Dragons Advanced division, as well as all divisions of our kids program, will be competing. A panel of Black Belt judges from our adults program will score them. There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies as well as competitor trophies for all of the participants.
If you would like your child to participate in this event please submit a pre-registration form (download below) by this Saturday, November 19th. We want to make sure that every student receives a trophy, and we will be ordering our trophies on the 20th. If you have any questions please contact us and we will be happy to assist you.

Remember Krav Maga Scenarios?! Yes, we miss it too! On Saturday, 11/12, we will be conducting a seminar in the style of our old Scenarios class. The first part of the seminar will cover a few fundamental Krav Maga techniques and principles. The remainder of the seminar will be applying those fundamentals to different circumstances and environments! Simulations will include home invasion, convenience store robbery, and a nighttime stroll through a bad neighborhood!
The goal of the seminar is to be both an opportunity for more experienced Krav Maga practitioners to hone and apply skills they already have, and for someone with no prior experience to learn the effectiveness and versatility of just a few core principles!
One of Krav Maga’s central tenets is to have one solution to many problems, and this is reflected in two of the system’s defined principles:
- One defense must work against a variety of attacks.
- The system should be integrated so that movements learned in one area of the system complement, rather than contradict, movements in another area.

Our instructors are highly trained and certified in their respective disciplines. Brian … Learn More
