So… whats the first Krav scenario?
Patrick says
TBD. Suggestions?
Dan says
Even though they have been covered, I missed both carjacking classes and the multiple threat classes. A repeat of those is my suggestion.
Bill Phelan says
Hi Patrick,
Because I think too much…
During the grappling escape last night in Fight class, we learned 3 escapes based upon how tightly our opponent is holding us. Recognizing that it is a fight situation and all that that entails, ideally, should we start with one technique that is better than the others and then proceed through until we hit on the one that works? Or, in the heat of the moment, are we trying to recognize what sort of grip our opponent has on us and then choose the right escape right off the bat?
Patrick says
Those three techniques are presented as being based on the distance and the “tightness” of the hold, but trying to recognize where you are on that continuum in the moment is very difficult and will delay your response. While we try to have as few solutions possible to a given “problem,” it’s also necessary to realize that there is no one solution—one technique—that will always work. By having two or three techniques based on variations of the attack, we can chain them together if one does not work or if the dynamics of the fight change the nature of the attack or opening. The more you train, the more you are able to intuit which one you should try first.
